About Texas Recovery Alliance

The Texas Recovery Alliance is a project of the Texas Business Coalition. Our mission is to open Texas schools and businesses in the wake of COVID-19 in order to restore health and prosperity for all Texans.

Reopen Texas Schools: It is vital to open all schools in Texas for in-person learning as quickly as possible. The COVID-19 related school shutdowns that began in March have had a dramatic impact, including students falling behind, increases in abuse and neglect, and impacts on mental health. The effects of school closures are most severe for students from low-income and one-parent households. Data shows that the negative impact of school shutdowns is dramatic and will have lasting impacts on students, parents, teachers, and the Texas economy.

Reopen Every Texas Business: Every day, more and more Texas businesses have to close their doors for good due to the COVID-19 shutdowns. Our small Texas-based businesses are vital to the Texas economy and are hurting the most. Every business in the state provides a livelihood for a fellow Texan—business owners and employees alike. If Texas does not find a way to reopen every business safely and swiftly, more of our great Texas enterprises and the families that depend on them may never recover. The personal and economic impacts on our fellow Texans are dire. There are ways to reopen businesses to save jobs and livelihoods while still protecting vulnerable Texans.

The Texas Recovery Alliance is telling the stories of Texans who are impacted by school and business shutdowns and is working with leaders in the state to reopen our schools, restart our businesses, and recover our economy.
